BRASS MONKEY SEASON

Brass Monkey Season begins in June and continues for three months until the end of August. Many visitors come to Stanthorpe and its environs to experience the wonderful cold winters in the high country. Sometimes there is snow but usually just a scattering around Eukey. The last heavy three day snowfall was in 1983 when the whole area was like a picture post card. For further information about Brass Monkey Season, please contact the Southern Downs Tourist Association or the Granite Belt Tourist Association websites on our Links page.

CHRISTMAS in JULY

Throughout the Granite Belt, accommodation providers hold Christmas in July festivities so that visitors may partake of a traditional Christmas Dinner during the crisp cool days of our Highland winter. Most have log fires and one day it just might snow. These festivities hare held throughout the month of July. For further information contact the Southern Downs Tourist Association or the Granite Belt Tourist Association website on our Links page.

OPERA and JAZZ IN THE VINEYARD

On the long weekend each May, Ballandean Estate Winery has Opera in the Vineyard. Well respected operatic singers perform some of the best loved arias, duets etc. from our favourite operas. This event is so popular that bookings are made for accommodation from one Opera to the next, Jazz in the Vineyard takes place in August so further information about these events, please go to our Links page and access the websites for Granite Belt & Southern Downs Tourist Association or Granite Belt Wine Tourist Association.
